SHP-1 Expression in AGS Cell Line

SHP-1 expression in the AGS cell line appears to be minimal under normal conditions (Higashi et al., 2002, Kim et al., 2018). However, studies suggest that certain treatments, such as arsenic trioxide (ATO) and pantoprazole, can induce SHP-1 expression in AGS cells (Kim et al., 2018, Koh et al., 2018). This upregulation of SHP-1 is linked to the inhibition of STAT3 activity, which plays a role in gastric cancer progression  (Kim et al., 2018, Koh et al., 2018). Additionally, epigenetic regulation, particularly promoter hypermethylation, has been identified as a factor in SHP-1 silencing in AGS cells (Joo et al., 2016).
