Streptococcus thermophilus strain DGCC7710 is a model organism to study CRISPR-Cas system (Dupuis et al., 2013).
Advantages:
- Highly active and well studied CRISPR-Cas systems (Dupuis et al., 2013)
- Wild-type strain is sensitive to several phages including model phage 2972 (Dupuis et al., 2013)
- Type II CRISPR- Cas systems : CR1 and CR3, both active (acquire new spacers) (Dupuis et al., 2013)
