- However, food labels should be interpreted in context. A food that contains saturated fat is not automatically unhealthy, just as a food that contains unsaturated fat is not automatically healthy. A balanced evaluation considers serving size, total calories, protein, fiber, added sugars, sodium, micronutrients, processing level, and the role of the food within the overall diet.
