NZ Amine is nothing but the end product obtained from enzymatic digestion of bovine milk protein casein. It is enriched with several amino acids (list given below) and also reported to have some vitamins. It is an important ingredient of some of the popular microbial media such as NZC broth. It is included in microbial media to provide an enriched source of aminoacids and peptides to bacteria for rapid growth. It can be dissolved in water (solubility 100 mg/ml) by heating to boiling (95°C) for a few minutes.
