Glioblastoma Stem Cells

It has been shown that Glioblastoma tumors have a subset of tumor cells that resembles closely to neural stem/progenitor cells.

Features

  • Patient-derived Glioblastoma stem cells form tumors in immunodeficient mice that closely mimic genotypic and phenotypic characteristics of GBM in patients. (Lee et al., 2006)
  • High invasive ability to invade surrounding tissues. (Cheng et al., 2011)
  • Relatively more resistant to radiotherapy and chemotherapy (Bao et al., 2006)
