Immunodeficient mice are the most utilized model organisms for the study of several human diseases, especially cancers. The NSG mouse (NOD Scid gamma mouse) is the most severely immunocompromised mouse model available for research use. It is developed and marketed by Jackson Laboratory.
The following defected in the immune system are reported in NSG Mouse:
- Defects in innate immune cell development
- No cytokine binding or signaling
- Defective in T, B, and NK cells
- IL2rg null mutation
