- In humans, ORC1 is encoded by orc1 gene
- In human cells, the protein level of ORC1 oscillates during the cell cycle. ORC1 begins to accumulate during the mid-G1 phase, peaks at the G1/S boundary, and then declines to a basal level in S phase. In contrast, the levels of other ORC subunits (ORCs 2–5) stay stable throughout the entire cell cycle.
